Dan himself was a keen endurance athlete and fundraiser and came from a family of cycling enthusiasts, so it made perfect sense for the family to rally friends to participate in an annual cycling challenge to raise money in his memory for Dan’s Trust.
In doing so, Dan’s Trust has joined forces over the past 3 years with The Danny Fullbrook Fearless Foundation to create their own joint cycling fundraisers.

Starting in mid June, he solo walked
“A Pennine Journey”, a 247 mile circular route around northern England. Not only does the long-distance footpath traverse some of the most delightful terrain that northern England has to offer but Kevin was also successful in raising over £1,300 for Dan’s Trust.
the ribble valley ride
The Ribble Valley ride 100 2016
event graciously donated a portion of their proceeds to Dan’s Trust; almost £1,200. 60 cyclists enjoyed
a great day out in the Ribble Valley and Yorkshire Dales, raising £000’s for the Rosemere Cancer Foundation, Dan’s Trust and the North West Air Ambulance Service.
...AND THANKS TO OUR
London to Paris in June 2016 was our biggest ride yet with 65 participants. The less mountainous route opened the door for less experienced riders who wanted to take part and it was brilliant to see lots of new faces, several new to cycling.
Cycling from London to Paris, however, is never to be sniffed at, since the riders still covered 361km. And there was a longer route for those who sought the additional challenge at a quicker speed! The ride finished at the Eiffel Tower on 23rd July just in time to witness the final stages of the Tour de France the following day after a wonderful celebratory evening meal overlooking the Seine.
This year, the event also welcomed a few riders from guest charity Team Rwanda, a wonderful organisation that supports the careers of impoverished, international-level cyclists. Jeremy Ford, from umbrella organisation Team Africa Rising, thanked both charities for allowing Team Rwanda fundraisers to tag onto the event.
All the riders were enthusiastic fundraisers and the event raised £150,000 for the charities.
Aix Le Bains to Nice 2015
In 2015, Dan’s Trust and The Danny Fullbrook Fearless Foundation created a more challenging ride for 37 intrepid cyclists. Set amongst the beautiful scenery of the high Alps, the ride included some of the most famous climbs in the world….The Galibier, Izoard, Vars and Bonette (the highest paved through route in the Alps!) were all on the itinerary, as were the beautiful Lac du Bourget and welcoming Mediterranean Sea.
Just a few weeks later, the professionals followed in their wheel tracks as the Tour de France passed through and tackled the same climbs.
The 100km descent on the last day more than made up for the 9000+ metres of climbing endured by the cyclists over the previous few days. This ride raised £45,000 for the two charities.
Milan to San Remo 2014
In 2014, Dan’s Trust teamed up with The Danny Fullbrook Fearless Foundation to put on their own charity cycling event.
38 riders completed the classic Milan to San Remo route for 2 days, followed by the opportunity to follow in the tyretread
of the greats up Col de la Madone before a grand finale along the Promenade des Anglais in Nice. 400km in total.
This event raised close to £80,000 for the two charities.
Tour de Force 2013
The year after Dan passed away, Ian Bagshaw, Mark Thompson and Brian Rayment, completed the Tour de Force in Dan’s memory.
It was a challenge Dan himself had once suggested they take on together. The trio cycled all 21 stages of the 2013 Tour de France route one week ahead of the professionals finishing approximately 3500 km later, on Bastille day (14th July) in Paris.
Friends joined them for various stages along the way and the team raised £200,000 for charity, half of which was donated to the William Wates Memorial Trust, the charity who organises the Tour de Force.
